Sunday 4th January 2026 – York
Today’s walk started on a cold frosty morning at McArthurGlen shopping outlet on the outskirts of York. 17 walkers and 14 non-walkers, whom had an enjoyable day in York.
Jean again, told everyone the importance of booking for the next walk because places are very limited with the coach only being a 35-seater
The walk began crossing the busy A19 road through a housing estate (unavoidable) into open country. The leader stated when he did the recce a month ago the path was under three foot of water due to flooding in York
Following farm tracks over the A64 picking up the Minster Way, skirting the golf course which only ladies seemed to be playing
On to the Wilberforce Way to Heslington where the oddly named pub”Deramore Arms” gave us a really warm welcome
Passing the University Campus into Fulford picking the River Ouse path, which this time was passable. Under the road to the Shopping outlet were there was time to have a coffee before returning home
The photo’s supplied looks like a drinking club rather than a walking club
