Sunday 3rd May 2026 – Ilkley Circular

The day started with the typical bank holiday weather, rain and more rain. There were 10 non-walkers and 19 walkers. Arriving at Ilkley about 10 o’clock, we were negotiating the car park for the toilet stop. Then onwards and upwards to Ilkley Moor.

Roy very kindly taking the bus to the start of the walk saving the walkers a long uphill climb. The views opened up and the rain ceased as we walked through the meadows towards Addingham, crossing the busy A65. Lunch was taken in the grounds of the local bowling club and refreshments in the local social club. In the afternoon we continued on a very nice path along the River Wharf and the Dales Way, coming into Ilkley through the park. We saw some travellers had set up camp, probably on their way to Appleby. On arriving at Ilkley, we had an hour to browse the shops. A very enjoyable 7 mile walk.
