Blubberhouses to Harrogate

Sunday 7th May 2023 – Blubberhouses to Harrogate

The none walker was dropped off at the bus stop next to Betty’s Tea Rooms. The bus carried on the A59 towards Blubberhouses dropping off the walkers at Sun Inn pub. We set off in sun shine after a photo call with the peacock on the roof of the pub, the ground in the fields were wet and a bit boggy in places. It was warm in the sun as we walked passed Bluebells with some of the group noticing Red Kites and even a Redstart in the wood.

After a short coffee break overlooking Beaver Dyke Reservoir where we watch a Tufted Duck on the water. The group walked through meadows where Skylarks disturbed by us walking to close rose into the air and a Curlew sang. After lunch it was a short walk to the Smiths Arms in Beckwithshaw for a liquid refreshments sitting in the bear garden in the sun. A sort walk along the road and we entered a wood with Rhododendrons which unfortunately were not out. When we reached Harlow Carr garden centre a few of the walkers dropped out as the bus was parked in the coach park. The rest of the group carried on walking through Valley gardens where there was a fun fair and stalls selling all sorts of food. Some went upto Bettys to buy a cake, some an ice cream or to find a seat to sit on before catching the bus home.
