Sunday 4th June 2023 – Ladybower to Castleton
The day didn’t start well with Jeff the bus driver informing me about the Sheffield congestion charge, but credit due he found a way around Sheffield (be it the scenic route) to avoid it.
29 walkers started from Ladybower Reservoir along a forest track after about three miles and numerous bikes we stopped at a clearing for coffee. We continued on a stony path out of the woods to a beautiful view of Lose Hill, Kinder, Mam Tor, and the whole Hope Valley. Lunch was taken at Hope where we were met by the non-walkers, we returned to Castleton by the higher path which takes you up to Lose Hill “we gave that a miss” arriving in Castleton at 3-00 in time for a justified ice cream.
