Sunday 5th November 2023 – Wakefield.
Leader Verna. The walk began from Anglers Country Park on a cool sunny day, reaching Haw Park after about 1/4 of a mile, following an old canal bed, then crossing fields to Rose Farm. Over an old railway bridge and onto the road to Walton to the pub stop and lunch at the New Inn. After lunch, following the canal again through the golf course towards Walton Hall Hotel, a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, it got a tad muddy at that point, and it was akin to the Grand National at Aintree with three fallers on the day. (see photo) Then onwards through some pleasant woodland, encountering a rather large puddle (small pond) towards the end of the walk, but all made it through safely. Best dirty weekend I’ve ever had.
