Sunday 8th January 2023 – Along Cuckoo Way from Retford
Leader : David Torrington
Attendence: 32
Jean welcomed new walker Debbie and the return of Wendy after a 9 year absence. The weather started well with some winter sunshine as we walked along the canal. On the path to the village of Welham we encounted a fallen tree, but the group coped with the problem and fought their way through (well done). Lunch was at the village of Clarborough at the “King’s Arms” a very amenable landlady Georgia who allowed us to eat lunch in the pub a rarity.
The walk continued along the towpath, unfortunately in heavy rain for about a mile, then cut across fields (very muddy) and onto a small housing estate, onto the waiting bus. The walk was about a distance of about 7 miles. Although the conditions were not ideal our walkers still managed a smile and banter at the end of the walk. Returning to Doncaster at about 3 o’clock.
