Sunday 2nd July 2023 – Buxton Area
After a pleasant journey out courtesy of Andy, 23 people set off under leaden skies, but that did not deter this adventurous band.
We traveled uphill through woodlands taking in several attractive carvings to reach our target of a solemn temple built in the 1800’s we climbed to the top to be rewarded with splendid views over the Derbyshire countryside, on our return to ground level we walked through fields l of sheep, to reach our scenic stop for tea,(the disused stone quarry) further into this 8mile walk we traveled through open countryside and passed through an environmental establishment unsure of its purpose till we arrived at the Parks inn for lunch, (friendly pub, good food) leaving the pub behind we headed uphill back towards buxton, passing through a riding school and grave of much loved horse. Due to the wind and threat of rain wildIife was in very short supply.
We arrived back in Buxton at approximately .3pm, allowing people to explore this Victorian market town famed for its spring waters before returning home.
